The Germantown Municipal School District and the Department of Coordinated School Health are highlighting the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by highlighting it for our Staff Wellness Challenge! We are requesting that all GMSD staff members, students, and community members support this initiative by sharing stories of loved ones impacted by breast cancer and submitting their steps/miles for the entire month of October. Join us as we run, walk, and jog to help end Breast Cancer! Your support and dedication to this initiative will help us to make a difference in the lives of others! |

Enter the name of those that have endured breast cancer and/or those that we want to remember that are no longer with us. We run in their honor and will honor their memory through this challenge!
Mae Mathis and Miriam Shira In memory of two strong and beautiful women, with a zeal for life. You loved big, lived big, and were larger than life. You fought hard and we miss you. May we always remember the matriarchs of our families and you live on through me. Always. ~Posted by: Jessica Minton Margo Juengling My mother, who is a 15 year breast cancer survivor. ~Posted by: Ashley Rotenberry Kim Brown My best friend, who is currently fighting breast cancer! ~Posted by: Ashley Rotenberry Mary Frances Trottman My grandmother, who is a 12 year breast cancer survivor! ~Posted by: Ashley Rotenberry |
Elaine Bartges
My mom Elaine is a 21 year breast cancer survivor! I was in Kindergarten when she went through chemotherapy and she always managed to keep things fun for my brother and me. We had a shaving party when she started to lose her hair, and each morning she let me help her pick out which colored ball hat would match her outfit. She has continually supported other women going through cancer by being a sounding board, providing items needed, or being a shoulder to cry on. She has run marathons, half marathons, and done the 60 mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research. She's an amazing role model of how to handle things with grace and give back to others. ~Posted by: Andrea Adair Leigh Sloan My Mother, Leigh Sloan, is a Breast Cancer Survivor. She is one of the strongest women I know! She's my best friend and I'm forever grateful & blessed that the fought and beat this horrible cancer. ~Posted by: Rachel Grisanti |
